A tribute to the historic diesel train VT 601 (VT 11.5) of the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB).

The train was used for the west german Trans Europ Express (TEE) in the 1950/1960s, later as an InterCity (IC) and a regular train.

At 4:45 and 7:48 you can see the VT 602 which had a gas turbine engine.

I used more than 120 different pictures and the tracks "Trans Europe Express", "Abzug" and "Metal on metal" of Kraftwerk's remix album "The Mix".

No, I don't think so. There's one working unit left, but just as a historic train.

Given that the Kraftwerk album "Trans Europe Express" was created in *1977*, I daresay that the Final Fantasy 6 intro music, if anything, borrowed from this one, rather than the other way round.

Makes me wonder if ANY of the TEE is still fully intact...somewhere in Europe? Excellent pictures (although IS painful to see some rusted out images of the TEE).

Great photoshow. In denmark we had a smaller version of this train from the late 60's to the late 80's. Basically one of these cut in half. They were all-red and called "ligthning trains". Later they were repainted in an silver livery, and nicknamed "The silver-arrows".
I think some of them were sold are still running today almost 50 years later.
I remember that these trains always caught a small audience at the platforms when they were at a station.

Yes, two engines were rebuilt with a gas turbine engine. The consumption was so high so the Deutsche Bundesbahn decided to stop using these engines. I never heard one of them...
