The conversation went something like this: "Hey, Steve, come by with the Bee. Let's see how it stacks up against this 2008 Pontiac G8 GT."

Motorhead Steve lives up the street. His dad was a Dodge dealer back in the 1960s. The guy knows option codes from the muscle car era like they're his kids' names and has a tattoo on his left forearm that reads "Mopar is Mom." More important, he just bought himself a screaming yellow 2007 Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee. We knew he wouldn't hesitate.

  • Pontiac engineers? ...

Pontiac engineers? Oh Edmunds! Try Holden Australia's engineers... This car is really a VE Holden Commodore- designed and made "downunder." Have fun with it, my American friends.

  • The GTO didn't sell ...

The GTO didn't sell good because it was for a limited production. They had to kill off that platform anyways for the new one the Commodores/G8's are built on. Its being brought here for mass production, and it will sell very well. The G8, though not quite as fast as the GTO, is much better car, and it will be even better soon. Word just got out that they will release a GXP version with the 436hp LS3, dunno when it will hit the showrooms.

  • To each his own. On ...

To each his own. On of the reasons I bought the GTO because it is something you don't see on every street corner. I did not care what badge they stuck on the thing I just wanted one. Now in my opion the GTO has better quality than most cars built in the USA.

  • The GTO is based on ...

The GTO is based on the Holden's VT/VX platform that was going out the door for the new VE platform that the G8 is based off of. People think the GTO was discontinued for poor sales but they are wrong, GM plans where only to bring the GTO to the states for three years also Holden was developing a new VE platform. But it fell short on sales because it fell short of the 18000 a year GM planned and Holden could handle.

  • I had a 2005 GTO ...

I had a 2005 GTO and sold it after 9 months. I won't go back unless they build them in the USA, AND make it look more like a GTO instead of a Cavalier. It was a severe downfall for its "short lived" comeback. You don't build an American Muscle car in Australia. Now I'm not a Ford fan, but I feel Ford did an excellent job on the new Mustangs. Plenty of power, built in America, and it looks like a Classic Mustang mixed with a touch of 21st century style.
