It's not heat shock
It's called air pressure. The hot air inside the can reduce the volume when it got cold, creating a low pressure inside. So the outside atmospheric pressure wins and collapsed the can.

  no, actually it would explode when you try to heat it up. If you do decide to do it, you shouldn't hold it or be in the room when you put it over the fire. METHOD: tie it to a sting so it hangs from the ceiling directly above the burner. hold the can slightly to the side with your hand and light the burner then release the can.(stand back way from shrapnel) it will slow down and eventually stop above the flame and explode. trust me, you wont want to be in line of sight of the can when it blows

  when the can explodes, it wont be like a bomb. the can is too thin to "explode" it will pop, and insead of shrapnel, it will have hot steamy pop, everywhere, and make everything sticky.

ive seen this before
but on a much bigger scale! on a huge steel drum, like an oil barrel. they boiled water inside, and sprayed cold water on it, the barrel impoded with a huge bang, made the whole auditorium scream. it was great 5/5

You can get a better reaction if you hav...
Heat the can with some water in the bottom and let the can fill with steam. The cold water will make the steam condense and you will have a better vaccuum in the can.
