  • 1st - I don't think so.

This is certainly not the first turbine driven boat. The first was "Turbinia" built in Newcastle upon Tyne, England in 1894 by Parson. It is still on show in Newcastle at the Discovery Museum. It was at the time the fastest boat in the world. So yanks, as usual, your over 100yrs behind the rest of us. No change there then. Muppets!

    • Read carefully!

It says - The first Turbine Marine turbine powered race boat - we've built a load of private boats, but this Platinum was the first fully fledged RACE package we produced... that is, it meets the race specifications and wins races... we have two new Mystic race boats in the shop right now... more beautiful than ever.

BTW-- our turbine boats aren't limited to running 200mph on a flat calm lake for a mile or so... they run 120-190mph in the Atlantic Ocean for up to 100 miles in race conditions every two weeks... all year long. I haven't seen any other turbine boat in the world do that... Not Calham, not Bud, not Turbinia.

    • Yes, and your beloved Turbina

Is as relevant in the world today as is Britain itself; meaning not at all. Still dreaming of past glories are we? When in reality you are now sucking Uncle Sam's hind tit.

    • no not the first... but the best

Your right... there have been many attempts to run turbines in boats... the Navy have a tone of them. But Turbine Marine has built over 20 boats over 5 years and all of them run perfectly today... 3000hrs per engine before we pull them apart for a look... not 30hrs like a race engine. I'm Scottish by the way and John the owner is from Norway, we just like the water in Florida.

        • Cost of a full race boat

          Hi stR1p
This is a race version $800k to a million for a new one. The private versions can go up to one and a half million new depending on all the options. The engine maintenance is much lower than piston power and of course they're far more extreme on the performance side.
