This kid is incredible. he's only 8 years old and he plays so well. Even if you don't believe it's him playing, watching his fingers in the closeups - you can't deny it's awesome.

    Come one people I agree that his sound may not be very clean, but come on he's just 8!! He knows to play which notes. With more practice and lessons over the years he'll probably do a fine job playing.

    all he does is shred and he has some technique problems. his tapping sucks. but yea, for an 8 year old hes pretty good but hes probably been learnin since he was 3 years old. i think da problem is his fingers are too small so he cant play very well on dat Jackson. he needs to learn proper music theory.

    sure he may be good, i dont play the guitar so i have no idea how hard/easy that was, but since i am not a guitarist i can be a good audience member critic, and i have to say i didnt really see anything musical in that, all i heard were a lot of sounds that didn't really string together, the sound was horrible, either it is the guitar being poor quality or the amps or the player i have no idea, but it was pretty painful to watch

    but i dont doubt the boy has some skill

      The kid can play, I'll grant him that. With some honing he can really soar.

      His execution and accuracy are subpar. That said, the guitar's also big on him--I was impressed by the fact he trained his fingers to hit those notes on a normal-sized guitar, for hands that small. It really is pretty impressive. That's skill right there.

      Now someone get him away from shredding so he can learn some real music. :D

      thats what people don't get. even people who play guitar. Being good at guitar, or any instrument for that matter, has nothing to do with how fast you can play. You have to make it sound good, and all this sounded like was noise. I understand hes eight and that it wasnt perfect because of this, but even pros play like that, and really, it just sounds horrible.

    this is not fake. he was 12 and is now 16 or 17. he goes to the Paul Green School of Rock in philly and this was with the rock school. hes awesome. i saw him once at one of the rock schools concerts, the works of Jethro Tull, and he is much better than he was in this vid.

      I agree,... He will grow up some day, and evolve into a seasoned player. I just hope that he'll start focusing from now on. His fingering just need a little bit more of polishing. Added with extra knowledge in scaling and pattern, this kid would some day be the next Vai or Malmsteen. I just hope that he wouldn't get influenced by the supid modern hip hop or rapcore,- especially in the times when stupid bands like KORN, Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park are hot cakes....

    Well, I certainly hope this kid got some good coaching between then and now. Sorry to rip on an 8 year old, but all this kid appears to be learning right now is how to butcher music. Others here say that he is now older and much improved. I hope so. That was ridiculous and anyone that has experience playing guitar would say the same if they are being honest. I've played all my life. I don't expect a little kid to be great, but what kills me as I watch this is that people are all telling this kid that what he is doing is awesome and it's just not. If he's older and better now, more power to him. But that was awful I'm sorry to say.

Go get VanHalen's first album and listen to "Eruption" and listen very carefully and know that Eddie VanHalen invented that style of playing of using both hands on the neck. He used to play with his back to the audience to keep imitators at bay. Because you do not know what it is and are incapable of doing it, certainly does not make it ridiculous.
